York Minster

AGM & GM - 17 March 2018

The cold weather did not deter representatives from a host of societies from attending this meeting which was held at the Priory Street Conference Centre in the historic heart of the city of York, within a mile of the Minster (see picture).

As well as the usual formalities, the meeting welcomed two new members of the Executive Committee - David Daldry and Ian Waller and received detailed accounts of the Federation's activities during the previous year and some exciting plans for the future.

Eric Jackson gave a very helpful talk about the General Data Protection Regulation, which will go a long way in helping member societies to cope with the requirements due to come into force in May 2018.

Papers relating to the meeting can be found in the members' area of this site.

Cardiff City Hall

AGM & GM - 18 March 2017

We held our AGM and GM at Cardiff City Hall, which is right in the heart of Cardiff City centre next to Cardiff Museum. It is a magnificent building and all those who attended walked up the grand marble staircase to the meeting room past the beautiful paintings and sculptures.

The General Meeting heard from Steve Manning, our Education Officer, about our Seminar which is taking place in Wesley’s Chapel, London on 16th September 2017, entitled FFHS “The Family History Society of the Future” and will be led by our President Nick Barratt. This will replace the traditional Autumn General Meeting and we hope all our member societies will attend to share ideas and provide feedback.

The March General Meeting gave our members the opportunity to discuss issues with the FFHS Executive and to share ideas with other member societies.
