Staffordshire Monumental Inscriptions

view of monuments

Thanks to diligent work by members of the Birmingham & Midland Society for Genealogy & Heraldry (BMSGH), over 127,000 monumental inscriptions are now listed on the FindMyPast site.

The name, death year, denomination, church and place are included in the index on FMP. Each has a link to the BMSGH site, where you can purchase a PDF of the full monumental inscription.

Monumental inscriptions often set out the relationship of the occupants of a grave and provide facts such as parentage, dates of birth and previous residences that may not survive elsewhere. Very good news for all researchers in Staffordshire and thereabouts!

BMSGH is the largest family history society for Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Why not visit the BMSGH site to see if they can help you track down your forebears in the area?
